09/01/2012 It’s done. The waiting is over. The international Hasselblad Masters Awards jury and the public at large have made their decisions on the thousands of entries submitted; the images have all been evaluated and votes, cast online, have been counted.

Said Paul Waterworth, Hasselblad’s Global Photographer Relations Manager: “There is no photographic competition in the world quite like the Hasselblad Masters. It enjoys an exclusive cachet within the imaging industry and in the hearts of photography enthusiasts the world over. The public and our specialist jury of editors and photographers from across the globe have had a truly daunting task to select the ultimate winners.”

“This is photography at its most inspired – and this eleven-strong band of winners will now focus on producing images for our 2012 book (Masters Vol. 3 – EVOKE) and our planned globetrotting exhibition tour.

He added: “Our theme brief this year is the word ‘EVOKE’. Polish-born novelist Jerzy Kosinski notably pointed out that the principle of true art is not to portray but to evoke. We are now looking to our 2012 winners to interpret this word and employ it to excite, ignite and arouse emotions through the images they submit.”

Beautiful large format prints of the winning images of the 11 new Masters are exhibited by Light & Byte at the Photo12 in Zürich from January      13 – 17. For more information visit: www.photo12.ch
