The UK’s premier photographic rental company is on the move. After almost a quarter of a century in Mallow Street, London, the Pro Centre is relocating less than a mile away to larger premises, all on the ground floor – with customer parking spaces and OUT of the city’s congestion zone. General Manager Renny Lee, Assistant Manager Neil Juggins and the eleven-strong expert Pro Centre staff are set to unveil new solutions for their rapidly escalating database of rental/purchaser photographer customers.
Renny Lee, who has an eighteen year history with The Pro Centre, explains: “This move is a major step forward for us – and one of the principal advantages is that we will finally have our entire operation on one floor in an open plan environment. Our customers will be able to walk in and see just about everybody. And access to simple drop-off and parking, plus a trolley system to shift heavy equipment, is going to be an absolute boon.” He adds: “At Mallow Street we were just inside the Congestion Zone now we are just outside it. So that’s going to be a double advantage for customers ... no congestion charging and no worries about parking tickets either.”
The Pro Centre was born, twenty-four years ago, as a showcase for Hasselblad in the city of London.
Explains Lee: “It was a sales and service outlet run by a couple of people and a technician who sat at a workbench downstairs by the front door and serviced cameras while customers waited. But people immediately started asking if they could rent Hasselblad lenses. And from then on the rental side rapidly evolved. We added lighting equipment to the inventory and added other key brands like Nikon, Canon and Mamiya – and associated consumables.”
So why do customers keep on coming back?
Says Neil Juggins “It is all about the quality of the equipment we rent and the service we provide. We may not be the biggest rental company in the country but we offer an extremely comprehensive service on a very personal level. No one beats us for service and value.”
Adds Lee: “The Pro Centre doesn’t work on a switchboard system either. When you call you get straight through. You will be speaking to someone who can help you immediately. All our staff has photographic qualifications and all are multi-skilled. If a customer calls about rental, sales, consumables, hardware, repairs, accounts queries, or the growing Didgeridoo service (where you hire the equipment AND a digital operator to help you get the best out of it) the person you speak to first will deal with it. There is no demarcation or departmentalisation.”The Pro Centre will continue to operate at the existing Mallow Street address until 6pm on Friday 27th May, and then open for business at the 3,900sq ft. new-look, open plan Union Walk address from 8am on Tuesday May 31st at Number 80, Kingsland Road E2.
