New Hasselblad Multi-Shot cameras are making headlines across the globe

26/08/2014 Online plaudits have come thick and fast following the launch of our new CMOS-based Multi-Shot cameras: H5D-50c MS and H5D-200c MS.

Within hours of our announcement key industry online sites/blogs were spinning the news with headlines like: ‘Hasselblad takes megapixels to a whole new level’ (SLR Lounge) and ‘The 200MP H5D-200c MS is a 200 megapixel monster’.

Others read: ‘Hasselblad continues CMOS craze with 200 MP H5D-200c MS’ (Fstoppers)

PhotoRumors noted: ‘The new Hasselblad H5D-200c MS camera can reach 200MP resolution’ and Imaging-Resource added: ‘Perfection for the pixel-addicted: 200-megapixel Hasselblad H5D-200c Multi Shot debuts’.

The new Multi-Shot cameras enable the ultimate in still-life studio photography at moiré free 50Mpix and 200Mpix resolution and follow up the groundbreaking Hasselblad spring launch of the world’s first 50MP medium format camera using CMOS sensor technology.

They mark the next step in Hasselblad. CEO Ian Rawcliffe’s plans to ‘offer an even broader palette of shooting options for our high-end customers.’

Michele Channer, Hasselblad’s International Sales Director said: “Hasselblad’s unique Multi-Shot technology provides high-end photographers with an exclusive opportunity to create images with absolutely mind-blowing detail and open new creative and commercial doors where only the finest reproduction in the world is acceptable.”

She added: “The H5D-50c Multi-Shot provides versatile capture with up to twelve minutes’ exposure time. The image raw size is from 75MB with a 16 bit colour depth.

The six shot microstep technology of the innovative H5D-200c MS produces 8bit TIFF files at 600MB each – resulting in the most accurate colour rendering and resolution available in the medium market format today.”

“And with all the advantages of the H5D line – True Focus, Ultra Focus, Digital Lens Correction and the ability to shoot at very high ISO settings, the 200c MS provides quality that is very hard to believe possible.”

Key features at a glance:

  • 50 Mpixel CMOS sensor with almost twice the physical size of the largest 35mm DSLR sensor.
  • Excellent high ISO performance: shoot at up to ISO 6400 and still produce crisp clean images with perfect colours.
  • High dynamic range (up to 14 stops) for improved detail in shadow and highlight areas.
  • Longer shutter speeds (up to 12 minutes).
