A very big noise at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam
10/04/2013 Hundreds of professional and semi-professional photographers made their way to a renovated warehouse in the east of the city last month for the pioneering ‘Shoot Amsterdam’ event hosted by Pro-Spirit (Hasselblad’s Benelux distributor) and broncolor’s Netherlands distributor, Transcontinenta.
It was a first for the city – a completely free, interactive day-long event that attracted close to a thousand aspirational photographers and imaging professionals looking to broaden their knowledge base and study contemporaries at work.
In main hall mini-studio settings leading photographers like Daan Verschuur, Daimon Xanthopoulos, Rahi Rezvani and Rico Ploeg ran popular workshops and answered workflow questions across a range of key photo-disciplines including; professional advertising shoots; documentary and reportage; fashion and still-life and food photography.
Paul Waterworth, Hasselblad’s Global Photographer Relations Manager said “The first ‘Shoot’ event, organised by the Source Imaging Group, took place in New York five years ago and since then the programme has spread to Los Angeles, Paris - and now Amsterdam.
Photographers came for the hands-on demonstrations and informative seminar sessions on workflow and business-building topics such as image rights, social media and brand development.
Adobe ran workshops on Lightroom 4; Hasselblad demonstrated Phocus software capabilities and broncolor specialists demonstrated latest lighting equipment options. Manufacturers chose the event to showcase latest products and technology - and all in all it was a superb networking event.”
