VICTOR cements its launch in Concrete
19/04/2013 Just picture this:
Over a hundred and twenty photographers, agents, directors, creatives and imaging illuminati went underground in east London for the VIP launch of the new-look VICTOR Magazine (and its latest print edition VICTOR – Photography Book Two) at the cool and very trendy Concrete club in Shoreditch.

They came from far and wide (Tim Flach even flew in from Holland) to mix with contemporaries and revel in the quality of the recently published second issue.
Paul Waterworth, Hasselblad’s Global Photographer Relations Manager tells us: “It was a great night. Everyone was just blown away by the quality of the new print version. We launched the first edition back at photokina last autumn and it was so widely acclaimed that we wondered how on earth we could beat it…but I think we’ve done so with the second issue, which even has a multiple gatefold to best showcase David Hockney’s stunning tree triptych.
Included in a long list of featured names you’ll find Steve McCurry’s work on the Pirelli 2013 calendar and articles on Alec Soth, a photographer known for his monochrome exploration of Americana; Guido Argentini, who presents his exceptional nude studies; amazing underwater photographer Chris Walter and former fashion photographer, now turned car photographer Joe Windsor-Williams.”
He adds: “We worked with adidas to host this event, as top photographer Perou had recently shot an advertorial for VICTOR featuring their Spring/Summer 2013 collection - appropriately entitled: Concrete.
Four of the photographers featured in the second issue mingled with the guests to discuss their work and upcoming projects – and we also had VICTOR publishers By Any Means necessary in attendance.”
Hasselblad’s Mark Witney recorded the event on video. He notes: “It was a really relaxed launch and the feedback was excellent. Now we look forward to the next issue later this year!”
VICTOR is published twice a year (it costs £15, €20, US$25) and is available from exclusive magazine retailers in London, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Madrid, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
